| Sherborne House Report |
|
Kids Company, a charity working with disadvantaged youth in south London, took over the occupancy of Sherborne House, Bermondsey, replacing the Probation Service, this summer. Kids Company was chosen after an extensive review of different candidates. A representative of the charity attended Commem last summer, and its founder Camila Batmanghelidjh (who attended Sherborne School for Girls) is due to speak at the School early next year. Kids Company held an exhibition, in collaboration with Tate Modern, called "Shrinking Childhoods", from 18 November 2004 to 17 February 2005. The exhibited had been created by nearly 1,000 children to reflect their lives in the inner city. Most of it was created at Sherborne House. Sherborne House has given Kids Company the space and premises to carry out their valuable work. However, it still relies on charitable and statutory funding for its activities. The Sherborne House Trust also makes donations to other charities working with youth in the inner city. Sherborne House has not approached the OS community directly for many years, and we would like to send a mailshot to let them know about the latest developments and offer them the opportunity to contribute to the Trust's work by making a regular donation.
